The weather’s getting nice and it’s time to frolic in the sun. Here are 3 summer outfits under $50, proving that you don’t have to spend too much money to pick up some anchor pieces for your warm weather wardrobe. We are on a debt-free journey, but I still find ways to look chic and put together, while spending less. Each of these outfits that I put together are under $50, but the nice thing is that each piece can be mixed and matched, and styled with pieces you already have at home. Target and Amazon are great places to find affordable fashion. I also have to admit, I was surprised at the quality of Target’s clothing compared to a few years ago. I have also found that there are more clothing sales in the stores, in addition to their already awesome clearance sections. Here are three outfits under $50 to help you look stylish during heat wave season.

1. Mellow in Yellow

3 Summer Outfits Under $50 – Mellow Yellow

Target dress ($20.00), Target gladiators ($24.99)

I love this outfit! I wore this to a wedding and got so many compliments, and the yellow makes everyone smile. This dress is from one of Target’s clothing lines called “A New Day”. The dress is very lightweight, but feels high quality and the fabric is soft to the touch. My favorite details are the side slits. The slits add a little flirtiness to an otherwise conservative outfit. Another surprise, quality-wise, was the shoes. I didn’t expect much from these shoes, but I bought them as a budget option after looking at a whole bunch of very nice gladiators from Zappo’s. I expected these to be hard and flimsy, with little padding in the footbed, but these gladiator sandals are very sturdy and very comfortable. These shoes are going to last me a long time, and I am happy that I didn’t have to spend a lot of money for quality. Target has become a go-to for me because of this. This entire outfit costs $44.99. The bangle, also from Target, is $9.99, but I didn’t include it in this outfit because we would be over by around five bucks. But definitely check out their accessories, too!

2. Beat the Heat

Target shorts ($16.99), Target V Neck ($7.00), Target sneakers ($16.99)

Who doesn’t like a pair of shorts? I live in outfits like these because basics like tees and denim are versatile and can be dressed up or down. Basics are the best bang for your buck, clothing-wise. Chicago was way hot this past weekend with temps in the high ‘90s, so while I would usually wear jeans, I opted for these very comfortable shorts from Target! Again, I was very surprised by the quality. These are from another one of Target’s clothing lines, “Universal Thread”. They are stretchy and reach down about mid-thigh. Most importantly, these fit great around the waist and don’t stretch out as the day goes on, which is my main concern for denim at this price range. These shorts feel like they should cost in the $50-$100 range, but Target sells these for $16.99. I paired these shorts with a V Neck crop top and these very cute sneakers. This whole outfit will run you $40.98.

3. Summer Date Night

3 Summer Outfits under $50 – Summer Date Night

White off the shoulder dress ($24.99), Target gladiators ($24.99)

This dress was a surprise for me as well! I ordered this dress from Amazon to wear to brunch the morning after our wedding, and it is gorgeous on. As a side note, if you are planning a wedding, take a look at my tips here. The material is flowy so that you can stay cool in the heat, and the material does not cling to curves, so it’s basically universally flattering. The ruffled off-the-shoulder neckline also makes this outfit look so romantic, perfect for date nights or for a honeymoon outfit. This dress comes in many different colors and at a reasonable enough price point where you wouldn’t feel bad if you bought two. I paired this dress with the cognac colored Target gladiators from the first outfit for a look that costs $49.98.

These three summer outfits under $50 can take you from date night, to weekend errands and back, and these pieces are versatile enough to be mixed and matched to give you the biggest value for your dollar. Target and Amazon have some amazing gems that are always affordable, so that you too can look put together and chic on a budget.
